Dear Mom, growing up was tough for me and my sister. At the time, we could not understand what was going on. I knew that you and dad were having problems. I did not understand at the time the trauma that you were enduring while being in a violent relationship. I remember giving you a hard time for not leaving. As a kid, I did not understand how much baggage was involved. You had to think about how you were going to take care of us. Dad was always good for financial support. I sometimes would dream that we started a whole new life in another place. Yeah this never came true. Now that I’m older, I would like to apologize for giving you a hard time all those years ago. Since I have grown up and started my own family, you have been an excellent grandmother. I did learn from the experiences of the past. I have learned how to stop the cycle of violence. Thanks for being there and being a good mom. It has been an honor to be your son. If you ever need anything, do not hesitate to call. Love, Your Son
