To My Dearest Friend, I wanted to let you know that I was the one who called child protective services on you. When you asked me to dog sit for you over the Christmas holiday, I agreed and didn’t think much of it. I know that you have been feeling depressed lately and thought you could use the break to visit family and that it would cheer you up. The first time I walked into your house to feed your pets I was hit with a horrible smell first off. There were dirty dishes in the sink, mess, and clutter everywhere. There was a large number of dirty clothes spread everywhere. I walked from room to room in disbelief, the horror growing. You raise two young children in the house. Suddenly, the dirty clothes and greasy hair your kids show up with made a lot more sense. The worst room was probably the master bath. There was vomit all over the bathroom that smelled like booze and had obviously been there for a while. The decision to call CPS was an obvious one at that point. It hurt my heart to do it but I know your children deserve better. Your Friend Always!
