Dear Mum, You are one of the most selfish people I have ever had the misfortune to meet. It took me years to realize that you only care about yourself. You are emotionally immature and are incapable of caring for others. You can't form any emotional connections. At least none that are healthy, which is why you are alone and have been alone most of your life. And I should know because I was there for a good enough amount to draw such conclusions. I used to think there was something wrong with me. Why shouldn't I? You did everything in your power to make me feel like a selfish monster, a loser and someone that no one else would ever love. And worse, if I told you all of this, and I have tried, you would re-centre the conversation on you and your feelings. This should not surprise me. I mean, you told me when I was six: I wish i never had you kids. Who does that? No one who loves you would ever allow such ugly, cruel and senseless words to leave their month. I wish this was the last time you said this to me, but it wasn't, you said it repeatedly. Worse, you told me (and my siblings) that we existed to serve you and that your life would have been so much BETTER WITHOUT US. Only a truly terrible person would ever say this to their children on repeat. You know what I really want to say to you is that you were a lousy mother. Your responsibility was to keep us safe and help us feel a sense of stability and you could not even do that right. Because of this, you don't have a great relationships (or any at all) with any of us. Yet you want us to take care of you because in your mind we owe you. We took your youth, freedom, beauty and gave nothing back. First of all, we don't owe you. We did not come to earth to serve you or make your life worth living. Honestly, I can't believe all the time I wasted trying to connect to you and feeling like I was doing it wrong. It wasn't me that was broken. It's you. You gave us a crappy childhood that turned us into traumatized people.
