Dear Son, I wanted to tell you the reason that I was away from you for so many years. Maybe now that you're an adult you'd be able to understand my reasons. I made horrible choices that ultimately cost me everyone and everything I had in life my most importantly you and your sister. I was drinking a lot, which led me to lose my job and falling deeper into debt! I didn't want you to see me in the condition I was falling into so I decided to emigrate to America. In some twisted way, I thought I was protecting you and your sister by at least being able to provide economic support and at the same time, hiding from you how bad my problems really were. You have every right to be angry at me and very hurt. Believe me, I have spent many years all alone with only my thoughts and feelings of remorse regret for everything I did. Please forgive me. I love you.
